X Breed
5+yrs approx
Male. castrated
Light Brindle and White
Medium Size, slim build
No issues have been seen in kennels. Found tied to a bench in a local park. He has been friendly with everyone he has met at the pound. He knows basic commands. He isnt the best of looking dogs but hopefully someone out there will see past this as he seems to be a really nice older dog. He has really short “sharpei” like fur. He tries to stay clean in his indoor kennel. He behaved very well when taking pictures.

Brindle
Small size
Has been very friendly in kennels. Very fussy and giddy boy who craves attention. Staff at the kennels have had no problems with him so far. He is untested with other dogs but no aggression has been seen whilst in his kennel. He is very underweight and in need of some TLC to help him get to his proper weight. He loves attention. He does know some basic commands but he does take his time to respond when excited. Will most likely suit a caring, active family who are willing to give him time to shine through.

Fblock Was due on 13th Feb - Needs out by the end of this week
SBT
Aged approximately 6 years of age, brindle in colour. This boy is a favourite with the kennel staff, he is a lovely boy, very friendly who isn’t fairly calm. He hasn’t been tested with other dogs but the kennel manager’s dog put his nose into his kennel to say hello and he had absolutely no problem with that. He is just getting over kennel cough, has been treated for it and is just a bit snotty at the moment.

Has been very friendly in kennels. Came to the pound extremely underweight and dirty. Since then he has had a quick bath (no problem at all) and has been on 3 meals a day in which he has started to gain weight. He still has a long way to go and will love a new home to call his own. He is a very friendly dog and the staff at the kennels have had no problems with him. He seems friendly with other dogs. He is very affectionate, loves to cuddle up to you. He knows basic commands.

Has been a happy and friendly dog in kennels although can be timid at first with people he doesn’t know. He has been good with some other dogs but should be fed seperately from them. He tries to stay as clean as possible in his indoor kennel. He knows basic commands. The staff at the kennels have had no issues with him and he loves a good scratch!

Female
Brindle
Medium Size, slim build
Has been very friendly in kennels with the people she has met. Kennel staff have had no problems with her, she has shown no aggression towards people or other dogs. She knows basic commands such as sit and give paw, she behaved really well when taking a photo. She is giddy and has bundles of energy, possibly suit a more active family to prevent her from becoming bored.

Reference 4668 K4 ‘Jake’
X Breed
12-18mths approx
Male, castrated
Black, white chest
Small - medium, chunky Size
Jake has unfortunately been returned to us due to being too strong for the owner. He is in desperate need of some lead training and socializing, he responds well using a head halti but he barks and pulls to get to other dogs and cats when out on walks. He behaves well in the house and is very friendly. He is a young dog who has shown no problems in kennels. Has been very friendly and fussy with the staff at the kennels and people he has met. He knows basic commands. Will suit an active, loving family who are willing to put time into getting him socialized with other dogs and to train him how to behave properly when out walking. He is not really small but not big either, he is a chunky little boy.

Reference 4620 Kennel 8
SBT x JRT
1yr approx
Male
White, Brindle patches
Small Size
Has been good in kennels although very shy at first. He is nervous of new places such as our reception area where he stays in one spot. He is fussy, giddy and loving once he knows you won’t hurt him. He has a broken coat which we believe is like a JRT. He will suit a family willing to get to know him, to help him to build his confidence around strange places that he doesn’t know. He is a young dog and eager to learn. The kennel staff have had no issues with him other than him being a little nervous of knew things. No aggression has been seen with people or other dogs whilst been in kennels. Now starting to come out of his shell. Very giddy and puppy like and will need to learn how to behave properly as tends to puppy nip.

We can arrange transport to anywhere providing the rescue space is at the end. If you can help then please email me (poundies@hotmail.co.uk), contact me here or contact 07933 907985 (I work shifts and cannot answer the phone at work so please leave a message and I will get back to you ASAP)

Major - Handsome Staffie x

Major

Major

Major is quite excitable, 1-2yrs old. He can be quite boisterous & has jumped up being a little “mouthy” and has been known to grab the lead .Since then I’ve put him on a lead & been firm with him, not allowing jumping up or stopping at kennels & he’s been as good as gold. He doesn’t take any notice through the runs, but he’s not been out on the paddock where he can actually see the other dogs. Cleanish in kennel. I think with an experienced owner & no kids he’d been a good, loyal dog.

New appeal for Rusty AKA MAX

ravenswoodarabians-1couk-7ravenswoodarabians-2couk-7This is from his old owners who have signed him over to the pound !

This Boy has 10 more days !!! Before PTS

Max is a super friendly, playful and loving dog. He adores company and is on the whole a sweetie. The report explains the pack dynamics for Max in our home so may need to be modified for a new home, however that will be easy to do. Max has a need to be over stimulated and struggles with this. His over excitement can be rapidly switched on and is very slow to calm down. The behaviours he displays are finding things to wind himself up with, if all objects are removed he will resort to stealing things from handbags, off table tops and work surfaces. He will use this to try and engage in a game of chase or a battle to get your attention. Walking out of the room and leaving him until he drops it to join you is very affective, however, when he is in the wrong frame of mind, this is then the catalyst for really negative behaviour. He can escalate to dominance, in your face bullying and on some occassions, aggression, threatening to bite, snarling and nipping. The best way to deal with this is to avoid the situation completely. Take control of the toys - they are your toys and you decide when he plays, remove all object from his reach and to not allow him to get in the aggressive state in the first place. This will not completely remove the potential for his dominance and aggression but it will reduce his stress levels and therefore keep him in a much calmer state of mind. Max will still try to find things but eventually give up looking for things to test you with.

Keeping Max calm is the key!!!

Max will need a period of time to settle in and adjust to his new home before walks can happen - he is a little agoraphobic and his need to control means that walks increase his stress levels. This has a knock on affect for all of the above reasons.

Max really panicked on the one occession he was let off the lead, illustrating this by biting Shaun on his leg. It was genuinely thought to be fear rather than aggression on this occassion.

Our advice would be to not let Max on the furniture - we have tried with Max both on and off the sofa. Max’s status within the pack incereases when he can sit at your level, thus increasing hie dominant behaviour and bolshiness.

The food suggestions really work for him - always eat something before feeding him, remove bowl etc when he first walks away from his food. He has always been very good around food, waiting until he is told it is ok for him to eat.

Max appears to adore the company of other dogs. He has spent time playing with two large labs and really enjoyed himself. He struggles a little with the doggy social etiquette but he is willing to learn from his mistakes and is eager to fit in with them rather than alienate or dominate them.

Shaun and I have found him to be a very different dog when we are on our own with him. He really struggles with us being together, showing affection or even talking at times. He barks, pushes in and will barge shaun away from me if we ignore him. Separately, he is much calmer, more ready to accept boundaries and generally less bolshy.

The cats!! I am not entirely sure that Max means them harm but he is a chaser of all things that can wind him up. It may be that with cats who are used to great big dollopy dogs, Max will settle down nicely - mine ran and he followed.

He travels really well and can also tolerate lengths of time on his own - while Shaun was in hospital he was brilliant. Anyone working would be able to leave Max on his own and trust that he will be ok. He will leave any chews or treats left for him whilst you are out, until you get home and then eat them.

When stressed Max will chew manically on his raw hide chews - this may be inturpreted as him being calm and settled but it is in actual fact a sign that he is not a happy dog. That said, he love love loves mint rawhide chews. and will truffle them down as fast as you can give them too him.

I know he doesn’t seem easy but with the right training , he is a nice boy… just had bad owners !!

Rusty is ok with dogs on walks but wouldnt like to say about living with one, probably with the right dog he would be ok, same old story. hes been left on his own in house for a while on regular occasions but been fine, doesnt like drastic change to routine , chews none stop when stressed, has a bit of a dominance problem in respect of if he doesnt know who is boss he decides he will be, will need an experienced and patient owner.

He is a lovely but seems to have had no training at all. He doesnt seem to know sit (could be just showing off) and he thinks jumping up is the way to go. He’s so sweet and its such a shame. Going to need someone willing to put the extra training into him. Still not tested with dogs but I don’t think they will be a problem.

Urgent! ‘Boomerang’ Staffie Male South Yorks Pound

NOW SAFE

K5-4563 Boomerang. Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Approx 1-2 yeas old.
This lovely boy was rehomed from the pound but has been returned through no fault of his own. He is fantastic with other dogs, just plays but cant have toys and food with them. Maybe in time he will learn how to share. He is a nice sweet dog and knows basic commands. His only problem is, is that he snatches and doesn’t like letting the toy go (likes to play tug and play growls with it), he is fine when you hold the toy when it’s in his mouth etc, if he lets the toy go, he will react quick and snatch, however, in 45mins of me kind of teaching him to “leave” and “be gentle”, worked wonders. He’s a fast learner and all he needs is some patience and time spent with him, he’s a really nice dog. We know he’s good with other dogs but he possible is food and toy proud with dogs, which most are.
Look at that gorgeous face and waggy tail!
