For sometime now UK animal rescues and welfare organisations have been concerned and distressed about the prolific numbers of Staffordshire Bull Terriers being bred and found waiting in pounds to be rehomed or be euthanasiaised because supply has outstripped demand

In many cases, these usually ‘people friendly’ dogs, are being overbred by unregistered breeders and then homed to people that either have them for the wrong reasons or haven’t thought through properly what the consequences of dog ownership are

UK rescues and celebrities have now joined together to organise a national campaign to persuade the government and owners of Staffordshire Bull Terriers, to put measures in place to stem the indiscriminate breeding of these unfortunate creatures, and to encourage owners to get their dogs and bitches neutered.

A SERIOUS MESSAGE
Please help to right a wrong that man has created

Staffordshires have been treated despicably over the last ten years and are being overbred
Their lives have become worthless to some
They have been projected in such a way that puts many families and older people off from owning them

For those that own these little dogs or have come across them in rescue work - well, we all know how loving loyal and dedicated to the people showing them kindness and gentleness they can be.

Yes, most of them do not like other dogs but that dosn’t mean they deserve to sit waiting in pounds and rescues waiting for the right loving people to come and take pity on them

They also don’t deserve to get the needle in the vets room …. some just puppies still

They truly need our pity …….and our help

What other breed can say it is being treated like this ?

Believe this - the situation is at an all time low

Rescuers are continually fire fighting to keep dogs alive but the time has come where positive action needs to be taken to help this breed and change its reputation and how the breed is projected.

Staffordshires make wonderful pets and companions - particularly for older people
This section of the population across the UK needs to find out what kind of dogs they really are

We must promote them positively

Can you spare just 1 hour to help do this?

Attached is a poster that we have no budget to get professionally printed or distributed

• Please print off as little as 2 posters and take time to go into your local vets or petshop or store and ask them to display
• send this email to 10 OR MORE other animal lovers or people who are kind hearted and want to help any dog
• There is a national telephone number for people to ring if there is no assessment centre by where you live
• if you know of a rescue or reputable ‘home’ where Staffordshires are assessed please write this in the space provided

If everyone of us did this we could send this email around the UK and help to promote the little Staffordshire in a positive light
