According to The Dog’s Trust 2007 Stray Dog Survey, 7,892 dogs were unnecessarily destroyed in the UK last year. These figures are shocking and unacceptable.
This website has been set up to assist dog rescue charities, organisations and rescue groups. We aim to to do this by helping to find foster homes/forever homes or rescue spaces for dogs on put to sleep lists in UK pounds. There are sadly a growing number of dogs due to be destroyed in pounds across the UK. Rescue groups who are trying to save these dogs often have no option but to get the At Risk dogs out of the pound by placing them into emergency boarding kennels. This is costly and many rescue groups are struggling to find the funds to pay for this.
Please note: the dogs listed as urgent are pound dogs, and cannot be rehomed directly to the public. They are seeking spaces with rescues who will assess them for rehoming, and provide lifetime rescue back up for the dogs, as well as adopt the necessary procedures such as vaccinating, neutering, micro-chipping etc. A dog that is in the pound is usually un-assessed and will require an initial quaranting period in isolation kennels to ensure there is no risk of disease that could be spread to other dogs. Therefore this is another reason that they would not suitable to go straight into a home environment.

We will then list the details on this site. Please also be sure to give us your contact details.

URGENT DOGS IN KENNELS & EMERGENCY BOARDING KENNELS The dogs on these pages have been on ‘death row’ in pounds and urgently need a rescue space, or they have been in kennels for a long period of time, and are longing for a forever home to call their own, or a foster home to get them out of kennels. Please look at these beautiful dogs!
RESCUES - All rescues who kindly offer their help must have a no destruction policy, homecheck all prospective owners and ensure that the dog is returned to your rescue should the owner no longer be able to keep the dog.

Precious Poundies works in conjunction with a council pound in Yorkshire. We find dog rescues to take the dogs on so that they can be rehomed responsibly from there. If Precious Poundies are unable to help these dogs they would be destroyed. Lots of stray dogs are continually bought into the pound, which when full, has to make room for the new strays .
